The high-dose influenza vaccine, Fluzone, is approved for adults age 65 and older and contains four times the amount of antigen than the standard flu vaccine. This vaccine was given a preferential recommendation by the CDC in 2022 for use in persons 65 years of age and older. This vaccine is designed to hyper-stimulate the immune system to produce a stronger antibody response in the elderly. High-dose Fluzone is the only high-dose flu vaccine currently available in the U.S.
